Youth Work Apprentice (Level 2)
£7,800.00 per annum
Youth Focus: North East are looking to appoint a Youth Work Apprentice to work as part of a team of staff providing open access youth work for young people in the Tees Valley Area. The post holder will work flexibly during the day, evening and at weekends. The vacancy for a Level 2 Apprentice Youth Worker is funded through the Youth Investment Fund programme, Our Youth Matters: Tees Valley.
The Youth Investment Fund is providing new opportunities for young people to get involved in their communities, support their personal development and get the skills and confidence they need to enter the workplace. The fund is made up of £40 million of government and National Lottery funding from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Big Lottery Fund. Funding has been awarded to 86 charities, voluntary and social enterprise groups in East London, Liverpool City Region, West Midlands, Tees Valley and Sunderland, Bristol & Somerset and Eastern Counties over the next three years. It will support the delivery, expansion and creation of high quality youth provision to build the confidence of young people encouraging them to get active and increase services providing support and guidance to young people.
As a Youth Work Apprentice you will work as a member of our Staff Team within local communities on a wide range of projects. You will work alongside young people, the general public, and partner organisations and will learn how to communicate positively and effectively with them. The work will involve supporting young people to be part of the development of open access youth provision across the Tees Valley area.
Our Youth Apprentice will experience an exciting, challenging and varied apprenticeship with high quality training that will support you to become and experienced and qualified Youth Worker in the future. Apprentices will study to complete Level 2 in Level 2 Award/Certificate in Youth Work Practice during their initial 12 months with us.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who will have the ability to lead, motivate and engage with young people, work with a number of professionals, and work in a team and individually. It is desirable that applicants will have experience of working with young people in either a paid or voluntary capacity, have a willingness to work flexible hours and have effective verbal and written communication skills. The post will be based primarily in the Tees Valley area and will include travel to our main office in Gateshead.
