Celebrating the Achievements of Young People Across the North East

Zeeshan Ayub was nominated to us for Most Inspirational Young Person of the Year by Karen Soady, his Cadet Leader at West Denton Fire Cadets. Zeeshan has been part of the Fire Cadets for over 6 years and has risen to Watch Manager, which is the highest rank within the cadet programme. He was nominated for his ongoing commitment to creating equal opportunities for all.

Some of his hard work includes fronting the Fire Fighter recruitment campaign,  working with the rest of his branch to plan and design a programme for young people with psychical and learning disabilities – from this project one young person joined the cadet branch as a full member. Zeeshan was the captain of the Tyne and Wear Fire Service Cadet team, took part in the National Fire Cadet games in London last year, and won the dignity and respect trophy.

Most recently Zeeshan has joined the Youth Focus Youth Board to help us on our quest to improve the lives of young people, he has signed up for the the National Steering Group with the British Youth Council and DCMS to help shape youth policy and he will be venturing off to Pakistan in March with the International Emergency Team UK to talk to young people in Kashmir about the benefits of the Fire Cadets.

We think it is fair to say that Zeeshan is an Inspirational Young Person and is most certainly on his way to creating a bright future not only for himself, but for many others.
