Our Community Matters

An intergenerational project designed to make connections, raise mental health and wellbeing and address isolation and loneliness.

Our Community Matters is funded by National Lottery Community Fund’s Reaching Communities.

The project is led by Youth Focus: North East, in partnership with Tees Valley Rural Action (TVRA).

The aim of the project is to increase a sense of community and wellbeing between young people and older people living in rural areas of Tees Valley, and to address loneliness and isolation.

Over the next three years we will deliver five projects per year in different rural locations. Each project will consist of 16 participants made from the two age groups who will work together to plan, design and deliver a local challenge for their local community based on the five ways to wellbeing: Be Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice, Connect, and Give.

The age groups we are going to work with are 13-25 years and 50+. We are calling all community super heroes to come together to plan a project that benefits their community and brings everyone together.
