The Diamond Model

The Diamond Model, supported by the Institute of Local Governance (ILG), is a programme exploring the local implementation of a co-production model for service development.

Throughout 2012 the first pilot in Darlington took place on the Branksome Estate.

A number of partners were involved, including: the Local Authority Youth Service, Envision, Teesside University, Patchwork People, Darlington School of Maths and Science, as well as local residents, councillors and young people.

The evaluation by Teesside and Newcastle Universities produced a range of learning which assisted with the development of a pilot in Gateshead.

Both pilots allowed us to test not just the broad principles of co-production across sectors, but the finer practicalities of collaboration against a challenging background of economic uncertainty.
