Young People Raise £650 for Mental Health Training

NCS Catch 22 Cohort 4 ONSAM

Local young people have raised over £650 and have donated it to Youth Focus: North East to deliver mental health awareness training.

The young group from National Citizenship Service (NCS) Catch 22 Cohort Four ONSAM packed bags at supermarkets, held a bake sale, sold bracelets, busked, and put on various fundraising activities across the region to raise the sum.

Their Our Minds Matter project raised a total of £658.80 which will go directly into funding further My Mind Matters training with young people taking part in next year’s NCS programme.

“We decided that we wanted to raise money for Youth Focus: North East and their My Mind Matters project because we are particularly passionate about this cause,” says Izzy, aged 17 from Hexham and a member of Cohort Four ONSAM. “Mental health is a topic which is close to the heart of many members in our cohort. We hope we can continue to work towards raising awareness of mental health and challenging the stigma that surrounds it.”
