My Mind: My Life – Young People’s Mental Health Festival

Young People's Mental Health Festival

The Facebook event page for the My Mind: My Life Young People’s Mental Health Festival is now live. Young people from Newcastle and Gateshead, who are part of Youth Focus: North East’s Young Commissioners’ project, came up with the idea to host an event for young people as another way of supporting each other to begin talking about mental health and help to reduce stigma.

There will be workers from local counselling services on hand should any young people want to have a chat with them. There’ll be a chance for attendees to post their concerns, questions and ideas on an expression wall, opportunities to get more information on support, including helpful mobile apps, a couple of short theatre performances to stimulate discussion, free refreshments and live music. The plan is to create a supportive, informal atmosphere for what is an important subject.

We’d be grateful if you could share this event with any young people you work with. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Steve Watson or phone the Gateshead office on (0191) 477 9966.
