On Saturday 5 March, young people who had taken part in local National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) activities met at Youth Focus: North East’s offices to evaluate the success of the programme.
The young people, who had enjoyed go karting, horse riding, and Beamish Wild among other activities with South of Tyne and Wearside Deaf Children’s Society were given the opportunity to have their say on what they enjoyed and what they thought could be improved, as well as looking at the future of the group and what they would like to see.
The NDCS Youth Activities Team planned the programme to meet the following outcomes:
- Changed opinions of what deaf children can achieve.
- Improvement in communication skills
- Increased confidence
- Increased opportunity to make friends
- Independence is developed
The young evaluators who attended all had a great time – especially when it came to destroying the barrier wall with suggestions on how they could overcome these obstacles.
