We shared this information just before Christmas, but given that we are at the start of a new year, we wanted to remind everyone of a piece of work we feel strongly about. Youth Focus: North East has secured funding from the Co-operative Foundation for a pilot piece of work that looks to tackle some aspects of youth loneliness.
We will be working with a group of young people to explore and better understand some of the causes and consequences of youth loneliness and isolation, as well as some of the positive aspects of solitude. The group will then develop and test out approaches and actions that begin to impact positively on feelings of loneliness and isolation; approaches which can be shared by the group with their peers.
Around this, we can also offer some workshop sessions delivered at projects or organisations, rather than young people coming to us, where groups of young people you might be working with can explore youth loneliness and share ideas on ways to tackle it.
If you would like more information on this project or the workshop approach, please contact Steve Watson on (0191) 477 9966 or [email protected].
