This new Tees Valley-based programme is funded by The Youth Investment Fund (YIF). The funding is a £40 million investment from the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) and the Big Lottery Fund.
The Youth Investment Fund supports voluntary, community and social enterprise youth organisations to deliver, expand and create high quality local youth provision in targeted communities across England. Successful applicants are funded up until 2020, which allows them to invest and plan for the future.
The programme aims to increase the reach and quality of open youth access provision across the Tees Valley area. We will work with 14 organisations over the next three years. This will support the work of 9 new open access youth provisions and four established open access youth provisions. We will achieve this through the;
- Delivery of services and support where there is no current open youth provision
- Work with established partners to enhance and expand their own open youth provision
- Development with new partners across different sectors
As part of our offer to new and established open youth provision, we will support with direct delivery, mobile provision, training workshops on existing programmes covering mental health, employment and youth participation and training workshops on co-production, impact measurement and business planning.
Each youth provider will be able to access £500 for resources that meet their and the young people’s delivery needs.
Young people will have access to an additional £500 to plan and deliver wellbeing challenges based on the five ways to wellbeing: Be Active, Keep Learning, Take Notice, Connect, and Give. The young people will be supported to plan and deliver a challenge that addresses an issue, raises awareness or brings people together.
Tees Valley Youth Providers Network
Youth Focus: North East has developed a Tees Valley Youth Providers Network that is a network of youth sector organisations working across Tees Valley; who come together to share practice, provide peer support and ultimately meet the needs of young people and youth providers within the Tees Valley area.
